Following on from Emma's Legends' fine 4th at Kempton on Boxing Day and Pass me By battling on for 3rd place under a big weight penalty at Fontwell, we look forward to the yard stars Division 1 team on the track soon - Aimigayle, Emma's Legend and Natural Spring are all firing well at home.  Thankfully the handicapper has also dropped Pass me By in the weights to make life easier for the now 13 year old warrior.

13th December 2011
Emma's Legend cruises home 20 lengths clear in a class 4 chase at Folkestone.

23rd November 2011
Madame Jasmine gave a good account of herself for her first run this season over 3 miles 3 furlongs by finishing 3rd in a Class 4 Handicap Hurdle at Fontwell.

19th November 2011
Emma's Legend appreciated the better ground at Ascot and romped home 12 lengths clear to win the Class 3 Ascot Mares Handicap Hurdle.
The handicapper added 14lb in weights for her next run which will mean a step up in class for her.

The first of the seasons' runners are now stretching their legs on the track.
Georgian King ran a great race at Cheltenham to finish 4th in very competitive company and his each backers were delighted with the starting price of 33:1 (touched 40:1 at the course).
Emma's Legend finished strongly in mid division in the same race and will have come on well for the run.

14th October 2011
It's that time of year with the jumps season ahead of us and for some dreams will become reality.
The dedicated team at the yard are really looking forward to this season with some great winning prospects training on well.
The first runners will be out soon - watch out for them! Cheltenham Festival winner's enclosure beckons for some too!

5th August 2011
I have recently made the decision to run more horses abroad this year due to the poor prize money levels in the UK.  Our location is perfect for this being situated within 10 miles of Newhaven Port and less than 2hrs away from Calais.

We are currently undergoing a big change in the structure of the yard to enable this to work and will be expanding next month.

I am pleased to be welcoming Paul Knight as my new assistant who will be a great asset to the yard as he is used to flying/driving horses around Europe and has also been a successful assistant trainer in the past.  Naturally I can't be everywhere at once so a really strong team of staff is essential.  It is highly likely that I will end up with a satellite yard in France once I have overcome all the rules and regulations!

The horses are mainly back in now with many more coming in September.  Mortar is probably running in Waregem, Belgium.  The majority of the horses will be ready early October.

April 2011
From a very frosty start with many race courses closed, the jumps season is ending well for County Stables with several winners including  Beau Lake, Emmaslegend , Quipe Me Posted, and Madame Jasmine plus several placed horses picking up prize money. Aimigayle ran well to finish second at the Cheltenham Festival and we hope to see more of her in the winner's enclosure soon. We have a good team of staff and horses at Lewes with several bright prospects in training.

22nd April 2010
Madame Jasmine put up a brave performance to land the bumper at Fontwell today.  She will now have her summer break.  She has been schooled over hurdles and jumps well.  She will win over hurdles over a trip.  She is tough and genuine.

9th April 2010
An excellent day with Corker finally getting his head in front under a great ride from Danny Cook.  Corker is not the most straightforward of characters but often runs well and this was a good performance.
Royal Kicks put up a career best upped in class and was just a little outpaced by the winner.  He stayed on well to finish second and is in great form at present.
Natural Spring ran extremely well at Aintree finishing a good sixth in a Listed Bumper.  The ground was a little on the lively side for her and we are hoping to run her in one more bumper before she has her holiday.  One to note!

26th March 2010
Beau Lake finished second in his first handicap hurdle at Newbury under Jimmy Derham.  He travelled strongly throughout and will appreciate a step up in trip.

22nd March 2010
Jordan finished a good third at Plumpton and would have finished closer apart from being squeezed on the bend.  She is very genuine and loves really wet ground.

21st March 2010
Royal Kicks put up a great show to win at Newton Abbot under Wayne Kavanagh.  He won easily, travelling and jumping well throughout.  He is at his best on good to soft ground - which is what it was today - not the described 'heavy'.

20th March 2010
O Malley's Oscar, who is still very green ran very pleasingly on his debut for us in a NHF race at Uttoxeter to finish second.  He certainly has an engine and should come along mentally for the run.  He will hopefully have one more run in a bumper for us if conditions are right, before being turned away as he is still growing.

2nd November 2009
Another good day.  Hello My Lovely put up a really good performance to finish second in her first outing of the season at Plumpton.  She put in a good round of jumping and it was her best run yet.
Royal Kicks ran well to finish fourth in his chase.  His jumping was superb and he just got a bit outpaced but was staying on well.  We will step him up in trip now.

31st October 2009
We had an excellent day at Ascot with Aimigayle finishing a brave second in The United House Gold Cup.  She ran on strongly and this was her first true test in open handicap company over fences.  She is only six and is improving all the time.  She will stay four miles in time and could be a National type in time.  Her jumping was fantastic and she received a really good ride from Colin Bolger.
Natural Spring showed her class in the bumper finishing a very good second.  It was her first outing and she was the only filly in the race - beating several previous bumper winners.  She will remain in bumpers this season as she is only a four year old and still filling her frame.

18th October 2009
We had a successful day at Fontwell today with Royal Kicks finishing third in the hurdle, giving Wayne Kavanagh a good comeback ride after an injury to his pelvis.  Royal Kicks jumped and travelled well throughout if a little keen in the early stages!  We shall now look for a chase for him when we get a bit of rain.  Madame Jasmine put up a tough performance to finish second in the mares' bumper.  Colin gave her a great ride and this was a very pleasing performance by a four year old.  Madame Jasmine is by our favourite sire Karinga Bay...the same sire as Material World, Golden Bay and now of course Cavingdon that looks set to be a class individual.  The horses appear healthy and fit and are all running well.
Steve Knight won best turned out with Royal Kicks, Aimigayle won it at Cheltenham for Sergio...they all look in fine fettle.

16th October 2009
Aimigayle made a very pleasing start to her season by finishing a close fourth in a Pertemps Qualifier at Cheltenham.  She was only 5 lengths off the winner, with the three in front of her having run recently.  She loves the fast ground and jumped really well throughout.  It will come as no surprise if she lands a big handicap again this season either over hurdles or fences...or preferably both!

10th October 2009
We had a great start to the 'season proper' with our first runner Cavingdon landing the bumper at Chepstow.  Colin Bolger gave him a great ride and the horse battled on gamely to get up by a head.   There was plenty of screaming going on by the Suzy Smith team as the two horses fought it out down the run in!  Cavingdon will now be switched to hurdling but is ultimately a staying chaser in the making.

21th September 2009
The yard had a very successful owners' event yesterday.  The weather was good and whole day went very smoothly with everyone thoroughly enjoying themselves.
The morning began with owners and guests enjoying fine champagne and canapés followed by a parade of the horses.  All the horses looked fantastic and were on their best behaviour!  The assembly then went on to Plumpton for hospitality in a trackside marquee. A delicious lunch was served and a good afternoon’s racing completed a very happy day.
It was great to see everyone and many thanks go to all the staff and those that helped for all their hard work.  The day always marks the start of the season for us.
We now just need some rain so we can get our first runners out!
